April 2, 2006 –We are pleased to announce the opening of our new exhibition center, Critical Line at 741 St. Helens. February 10, 2006 –"Aether (The Vapors)" by Barry Maxwell opens at the Tollbooth Gallery today through March 26!
December 4, 2005 –"Downtown" by Chris Sharp is open at the Tollbooth today!
October 23, 2005 –"No Sale" by Michael Lent opens at the Tollbooth today! This 3D installation encompasses video and large scale hanging drawings on acrylic sheets. For more info check out our press section.
September 11, 2005 –"PUBLIC PARKS/PUBLIC BEACHES" by Lauren Steinhardt is currently on display at the Tollbooth. This piece is an exploration of the boundaries of public/shared space and aesthetics. With this project Steinhardt draws parallels between the ways Mt. Rainier and the Tollbooth Gallery are each held in trust for the enjoyment of the public. In addition, people are encouraged to color in the "paint by numbers" element of the project... so bring your markers with you.
August 1, 2005 –"Antenna", a collaborative installation by Kristen Baumlier and Jessica Spring is on view now at the Tollbooth
June 27, 2005 –The first part of Alex Schweder's exhibition, "Jealous Poche", is playing at the Tollbooth now through July 7!
June 22, 2005 –Last week we were in Austin, Tx where we spoke about some of the ArtRod projects and met a bunch of great people. Also we are getting ready to install Alex Schweder's show which is a 2 part double feature!
June 6, 2005 –The new Toby Room issue is out now and available in the usual places, we will have it up in our store shortly. It features interviews with the creators of the Tollbooth Gallery and the first year of exhibiting artists + an interview with Seattle artist, Scott Fife.
